Maties (re-)start strongly

FNB Maties showed no sign of rust, as they got the second half of their 2010 WP Super League campaign off to a strong start – beating SK Walmers 46-18 in Green Point on Saturday.

The Varsity Cup winners scored seven tries to two, with Louw Schabort scoring no less than four tries and Juan Herbst weighing in with a try double.

Fit-again centre Morgan Newman – no doubt trying to force his way back into the Western Province mix – also scored, along with one conversion.

Varsity Cup-winning flyhalf – and points-machine – André Kemp (pictured) slotted three conversions and a further penalty.
