Maties show Hamilton's who's boss

Hamilton’s might be going to next month’s National Club Championships as the top team in Western Province, but FNB Maties put them in their place in WP Super League action on Friday night.

The back-to-back FNB Varsity Cup presented by Steinhoff International champions claimed a convincing 27-13 victory at Green Point – scoring four tries to one in the process.

The Men from Stellenbosch assembled a powerful line-up for this top-of-the-table clash – including the likes of Jean Stemmet, Paul Bosch, Pieter Myburgh and Schalk Ferreira – and they did not disappoint, despite the tricky conditions.

Fullback Hayden Groepes, left-wing Andries Volgraaff, flyhalf Willie le Roux and hooker Arno White crossed the whitewash for the reigning Super League champions, with scrumhalves Henoe Stoffberg and Donald Stevens adding some of the extras.
