Maties singing in the rain

Varsity Cup champions, FNB Maties, maintained their unbeaten record in the 2009 Western Province Super League with a 41-20 win over Helderberg on Saturday.

The defending Varsity Cup and Super League champions bounced back from last week’s 16-16 draw against UCT, despite the inclement weather conditions in the Cape at the weekend.

UCT’s league match against Kraaifontein, which was scheduled to be played at the Green Mile on Saturday afternoon, was postponed due to the bad weather in Cape Town – that match will now be played on Saturday, June 20.

Meanwhile, Stellenbosch’s second team, Victorians, claimed a 33-12 win over Villager’s, whilst Hamilton’s maintained their position at the top of the log with a hard-fought 15-0 win over NNK.
