Men in Maroon do it again

FNB Maties won the 2010 WP Super League trophy with two games to spare – an emphatic 54-12 win over last year’s champions, Hamilton’s, at the Danie Craven Stadium this past weekend sealing the title.

The Stellenbosch students – who earlier in the year claimed a third successive Varsity Cup title – needed only 25 minutes to cross the line four times and secure the one log point they needed to take the Super League gong.

Maties have been exceptional this year; winning 13 out of their 16 games, drawing once and losing just twice.

Stellenbosch have the best attacking and defensive records in the WP Super League – scoring 644 points and conceding only 271 points, a points’ difference of 373. (Durb-Bell, in second position on the log after 18 games, have a points difference of 166.)

Congratulations to head coach Chean Roux – who also coached his team to their three Varsity Cup wins – and his team for winning the Super League A title!
