Newman named in Currie Cup mix
Stellenbosch Varsity Cup ace Morgan Newman has been named in the Western Province line-up for Saturday’s Currie Cup opener against the defending champion Sharks at Newlands.
Newman, who played for the Emerging Springboks against the British & Irish Lions last month, will line up in the No.13 shirt alongside Maties colleague Peter Grant – who will start at inside centre.
Of course, Newman played Varsity Cup rugby in 2008 and 2009 and he will be joined by fellow VC representatives, Joe Pietersen and Juan de Jongh – both of whom played in the inaugural tournament.

Meanwhile, former Pukke lock Grant le Roux will make his Currie Cup debut this weekend, having been named on the bench for Boland in their clash with the Leopards on Friday evening.
