Lloyd-Jones to referee VC Final

Gareth Lloyd-Jones will referee the 2009 FNB Varsity Cup presented by Steinhoff International Final between Maties and Pukke at Stellenbosch’s Danie Craven Stadium on Monday, March 30.

At present Lloyd-Jones is on the National Panel of referees. Last year he also was on the IRB’s Sevens Series refereeing in Dubai, George, Wellington and San Diego. Earlier this year, he refereed in England as part of an exchange programme.

Lloyd-Jones will be familiar with both teams, as he became a provincial referee while a member of the Leopards Referees’ Society before returning to Cape Town.

His assistants are also provincial panel referees – François Veldsman and Dilbert November, whilst Shaun Veldsman, one of the IRB’s panel of specialised Television Match Officials, will serve as the TMO.
