Munnik handed NMMU flyhalf role
Aluzant Munnik will line up at flyhalf for FNB NMMU in Monday evening’s Varsity Cup and Monte Taljaard Trophy clash against the Ikey Tigers in Port Elizabeth.
Munnik started last week’s 5-54 defeat to Shimlas in the last line of NMMU’s defence, but will now front up to an in-form FNB UCT team in the crucial No.10 position.
Head coach Kolie Brandt, as he searches for a first win of the season, has made a number of other adjustments to his backline in order to tame the Tigers, who – of course – beat Pukke 18-11 earlier this week.
Aside from moving Munnik to flyhalf, regular No.10 Willem Laubscher will start at inside centre, Williams Heydenrych moves from outside centre to the left-wing and fullback Jade Barkhuizen and centre Stefan de Klerk have been brought in from outside of this past Monday’s matchday 23.
Scrumhalf Luso Booi (pictured) will, again, captain the brave Men from PE, whilst Brandt has also made some adjustments to his team’s forwards pack after their mauling at the hands of the Shimlas.
Thomasau Forbes (No.6 flank) and hooker Werner Kapp have been introduced into the starting XV, with the likes of De Wet De Lange and JP Kellerman switching between their back row positions from last week.
