No change for pleased UJ boss
A winning Varsity Cup team deserves a full vote of confidence, according to FNB UJ head coach Hugo van As.
And following their impressive start to the 2010 Varsity Cup, UJ boss Van As stayed true to his word by naming an unchanged 23-man squad for Monday’s match against FNB Tuks at the Tukkies Athletics Stadium (kick-off 6.30pm).
UJ beat FNB TUT Vikings 28-14 in the opening round of the competition, last Monday, making sure of maximum points and their current second-place position on the standings of the 2010 FNB Varsity Cup presented by Steinhoff International.
Star fullback Earl Lewis – who played Currie Cup rugby for the Lions last year – will once again be amongst the replacements for the University of Johannesburg and his game-breaking abilities will test Tuks when he gets a chance off the bench against last year’s semifinalists.
The FNB UJ team: 15 Aubrey MacDonald, 14 Edrich van Tonder, 13 Clinton de Klerk (captain), 12 Luan Steenkamp, 11 Lola Waka, 10 André Smith, 9 Danny Botha, 8 Quinten Minnaar, 7 Wendell Wehr, 6 Justin Wheeler, 5 Marnus van Huyssteen, 4 Martin Lombard, 3 Wayne Swart, 2 Edgar Marutlulle, 1 Charl du Plessis.
