Ruthless Eagles land on Tukkies

FNB Tukkies lost 10-36 to Currie Cup side, the Eagles, in an FNB Varsity Cup presented by Steinhoff International pre-season clash in George.

Having won earlier warm-up matches against Russia, the Shimlas and a weakened Eagles team, the Currie Cup First Division side taught the students a few important lessons on Friday.

According to a report on suparugby.com, the home side scored six tries with captain and hooker Wayne Bennett weighing in with a hat-trick.

Tuks, of course, will be hosting two Varsity Cup matches at the LC de Villiers Stadium on Monday, February – TUT v UJ (kick-off 4.30pm) and their encounter against last year’s losing finalists, Pukke, at 6.30pm.

At least head coach Freddie Grobler (pictured, above) has seen his players in action in four very different pre-season matches and he will now know what his players have to do at training this week ahead of Round One of the 2010 Varsity Cup.
