Still faults in Tuks' game

Tuks secured a 33-16 bonus-point win after scoring five tries to one against the Madibaz on Monday. The win ensured the Pretoria-based side moved to third spot on the Varsity Cup log after just two games.

Despite finding many faults in his team's performance, the coach praised his team's defensive efficiency.

"I’m glad about the bonus-point win, but not happy with the performance," Human revealed to rugby365.com.

"Our discipline was not decent and we failed to convert the available points. From the kick-off, we gave away four consecutive penalties – which is unacceptable.

"One positive of the game was our defence. We only gave away one try, which is a plus point."

Following their 13-9 win against Maties on January 30, Tuks had a bye week which could have influenced their clumsy performance. But Human was quick to discard that as an excuse.

"The bye last week took away our momentum. I think they were over exuberant, especially after the Maties game.

"But that is no excuse. We should be on top form in each game because in this competition any team is beatable. Just look at the results of UCT and Shimlas [UCT recorded a 22-7 win]," he added.

Human' troops head to UJ on Monday, February 20 and the coach realises that facing the orange army at home is a huge challenge.

"We can't emulate Monday's performance against the likes of UJ.

"We played against them during pre-season and they were strong in defence. Furthermore, I know UJ will be eager to secure a win, so a tough test awaits us in Johannesburg," he stated.
