Team changes for Round Five
Five teams have announced late changes to their matchday line-ups for Round-Five Varsity Cup action today.
In the day’s first match at 4.30pm – between the defending champions Maties and back-to-back semifinalists, Tuks, the Men in Maroon have announced one change.
The one change sees regular squad member Mike De Neuilly-Rice drop out with an injury and Suan Havenga replace him in the No.17 jersey.
Both NMMU and Pukke have made changes for their game in Port Elizabeth at 6.30pm.
In the NMMU team, on the bench, Hugo Lambrechts replaces Hanre Basson in the No.23 shirt and Pukke have changed around Dane Johnson (No.14) and Andrew van Wyk (No.22) from the side which was announced last week.
The final changes concern the Shimlas-TUT match-up in Bloemfontein – also at 6.30pm.
Having named ‘AN Other’ at fullback, the Shimlas brainstrust have confirmed that regular flyhalf Reinhardt Erwee (pictured, above) will start in the last line of defence.
Scrumhalf Jaco Colyn will thus move into the vacant flyhalf position, with Gerrie Odendaal – who boasts provincial experience – taking over at scrumhalf. SA Universities halfback Marlin Ruiters remains as the scrumhalf back-up on the bench.
The TUT Vikings, meanwhile, have replaced Dewald van Deventer – who has a cold – at lock with Werner Lourens. Athi Mtya will, in turn, take Lourens’ place on the bench.
