Tuks edge out Varsity Cup 'derby'

FNB Tuks held out for a narrow, but important 14-7 Carlton League – and Varsity Cup ‘derby’ – win over TUT on Saturday.
Tuks, the top side on the Carlton League log, have lost just once this season – but they were made to work for this victory against their fellow Varsity Cup opponents.
Both sides scored a try each, but the boot of flyhalf Louis Boshoff (one drop-goal) and outside centre Gerrit Smit (two penalties) helped Tuks to the win, which has now – surely – ensured them qualification for the 2009 National Club Championships.
Boshoff also scored Tuks’ only try and would no doubt have been the toast of his team after their hard-fought victory.
