Tuks tops in Blue Bulls country
Varsity Cup semifinalists, FNB Tuks, are heading up the club league in Blue Bulls country – having won four of their first five Carlton Cup matches to date.
Tuks, who went down to eventual winners Maties in the Last Four of the 2009 FNB Varsity Cup presented by Steinhoff International, have scored a whopping 228 points in their first five 2009 league matches – conceding just 90 in the process.
Tukkies – who beat Harlequins 64-9 last week – are in first place on the log with 22 points, just two ahead of the impressive Naka Bulle – the only side yet to lose a match in the Carlton league.
Meanwhile, Tuks’ fellow Varsity Cup competitors, FNB TUT, are in fifth place on the log, having won three and lost two games thus far.
The Men from Tshwane beat Police 21-20 last Thursday – a superb result for them when one considers that the ‘Bobby’s’ are a few spots ahead of them on the Carlton Cup log.
TUT, of course, were the only winless side in the 2009 Varsity Cup and they face promotion/relegation matches later this year to book their place in the 2010 competition.
