Tuks' Van Velze takes the lead

FNB Tuks loose forward Gerrit-Jan van Velze will captain the Blue Bulls Juniors in their Currie Cup Under-20 match against Western Province at Newlands on Saturday.

Van Velze – who captained the SA Under-20 team in Wales last year – will lead the ‘Bulletjies’ from the No.8 position, with Jaco Fourie and one of Marnus Schoeman or Devin Oosthuizen set to join him in the back row.

Twenty-one-year-old Van Velze played Varsity Cup rugby for Tuks last year, but was unavailable during the 2009 competition due to Vodacom Cup commitments with the Blue Bulls.

Of course, another Tuks star from the 2008 Varsity Cup, winger Gerhard van den Heever, will turn out for the Bulls’ senior team against WP later in the day.
