UJ eyeing first place

FNB UJ could move into first place on the Grand Challenge log should they defeat Roodepoort this evening.

UJ picked up 10 points this weekend without even taking to the field – thanks to two walkovers against Harlequins – and they could move into first place on the log with a four-try win over Roodepoort tonight.

The Men from UJ will, however, go into this evening’s match without fleet-footed fullback Earl Lewis and regular skipper – and outside centre – Clinton de Klerk. But No.2 Edgar Marutlulle will have plenty to play for, with regular Lions hookers Willie Wepener and Ethienne Reynecke both headed abroad.

André Smith will line up in the all-important flyhalf position, with the experienced Lions man Freddie van Zyl partnering him at halfback.

The UJ team: 15 Arno Coetzee, 14 Itumeleng Mogotsi, 13 Rouan Cloete, 12 Byron Godfrey, 11 Brendan Lizamore, 10 André Smith, 9 Freddie van Zyl, 8 Hennie Kilian, 7 Ysel Swanepoel, 6 JP van Rensburg, 5 Martyn Lombard, 4 Lehan Koekemoer, 3 Wayne Swart, 2 Edgar Marutlulle, 1 JP Olivier.
