Van Wyk replaces injured Dames
The FNB NWU-Pukke have announced two changes to their starting line-up for Monday’s mouth-watering Varsity Cup match-up against the Ikey Tigers in Cape Town.
In coach Rudy Joubert’s one enforced chance, Andrew van Wyk replaces fellow speedster Danie Dames in the No.11 jersey, the latter having picked up a knee ligament injury against Tukkies earlier this week.
The other change to the Pukke side – which beat Tuks 35-24 in Pretoria last Monday – sees Jaco Lötter take over the No.7 shirt from Siya Mdaka, who drops to the bench.
Mdaka will sit on a replacements bench showing just one other change from last week, with former Boland Junior and Vodacom Cup winger SP Marais replacing Van Wyk, who – of course – has been promoted to the Pukke starting XV.
Pukke and the Ikeys have met four times in the FNB Varsity Cup presented by Steinhoff International – since 2008 – with the Men from Potchefstroom winning three times and UCT once.
The FNB NWU-Pukke team: 15 Theuns Kotze, 14 Dane Johnson, 13 Ruan Jacobs, 12 Wouter Watermeyer, 11 Andrew van Wyk, 10 Niell Jacobs, 9 Andries Mahoney, 8 Thabo Molete, 7 Jaco Lötter, 6 Savvas Nel, 5 Markus Fourie, 4 Dirco Rautenbach, 3 Stephanus Bezuidenhout, 2 Stoffel Duvenage, 1 Dewald Coetzee.
