Another Scotland player ruled out of World Cup
INJURY UPDATE: Scotland scrumhalf Ali Price is out of the World Cup with a foot injury, the team said Tuesday, compounding their problems after also losing flank Hamish Watson in the demoralising loss to Ireland.
Price injured his foot in Sunday’s 3-27 defeat in Yokohama that left Gregor Townsend’s side fighting to avoid an early flight home from Japan.
“An X-ray confirmed he would play no further part in the tournament,” said a statement from the Scottish camp.
The news came after it emerged that flank Watson was also out after injuring his knee.
“Both Ali and Hamish had invested a lot of effort into being in their best physical shape for the World Cup and it’s a shame they’ve only been involved in one game,” Townsend said.
Townsend has called up Edinburgh scrumhalf Henry Pyrgos as cover for the injured Price ahead of the Scots’ next game against Samoa on September 30.
