Readers' vote: It's Kaino by a mile
We asked our readers to nominate their World Cup Player of the Tournament and New Zealand flank Jerome Kaino won by a proverbial country mile.
Kaino received more than three times the number of nominations than his nearest rival, despite a number of surprise nominations making it onto the board.
Apart from Kaino, who polled more than 30 percent of the nominations, the other players to get more than one nominations were David Pocock (Australia), Morné Steyn (South Africa), Richie McCaw (New Zealand), Israel Dagg (New Zealand), Jamie Roberts (Wales) and Ma’a Nonu (New Zealand).
Kaino, Pocock, Nonu and Piri Weepu (New Zealand) were all on the IRB list of nominations for the official Player of the year, released earlier this week.
France captain Thierry Dusautoir and Australian scrumhalf Will Genia, the other two nominations on the IRB list, did not get a single vote from our readers.
