Muir's tries win in Kirkwood

Muir of Uitenhage travelled up to Kirkwood with its citrus trees in the Sundays Valley for their match with the enthusiastic local school.

Muir ran in five tries to take victory 35-12 over Kirkwood. The hosts Kirkwood were in the game at the break when Muir led 14-9.

Kirkwood drew first blood with a penalty.  Their lead was shorted lived when flyhalf Ruben de Vos put the College ahead with a converted try.  Right wing Sithembiso Metshe showed some individual brilliance after wrongfooting the defence, breaking a tackle and dotting down. De Vos converted.  Kirkwood continued to play to their strengths and stuck to their structures to be rewarded with two penalties which kept them in the game.

The Muir side showed a bit more urgency in the second half to run in three unanswered tries.  De Vos ran in his second after centre Lunathi Nxele broke Kirkwood's defensive line. De Vos converted his own try.  Nxele lead from the front, broke two tackles, stepped the cross defence to put his name in the try column.  Nxele converted his own try.  Outside centre Mihlali Nobomvu sealed victory with a well-deserved try for his hard work through out the game.  Reserve scrumhalf Joel Wates converted.
