Argentina claimed the last semifinal place -with a 19-13 win over Scotland in Saint-Denis.

The remaining semifinal spot was filled by South Africa, who ran riot against Argentina and defeated them 37-13.

France were outdone in the bronze medal match at Parc des Princes, Paris, where Argentina walked away winners -with the score 34-10. This was Argentina highest finish at a World Cup.
