'He's been unreal': All Blacks spring a surprise ahead of England Test

NEWS: A familiar face was spotted in the All Black camp ahead of their Test against England in Dunedin on Saturday.

Former captain Sam Cane has joined the squad despite not being named in Scott Robertson’s 32-man squad for the two-Test series.

The 32-year-old has been out of action since January 20 with a back injury and was not considered for selection.

He will also be retiring from Test rugby at the end of the year.

However, it seems he still has a big role to play within the current set-up.

“Sam Cane’s influence on the group has been of guidance, of care,” said All Black assistant coach Scott Hansen.

“He’s doing everything to make us better.

“He’s sharing stories, he’s sharing experiences and understanding us as a management group also coming in and connecting with the All Blacks.

“He’s been unreal with his care and guidance with helping us also.”
