Smal will leave his post as Western Province Director of Rugby to join Jake White’s coaching staff at Toyota Verblitz, the club confirmed.

The 57-year-old’s contract with WP expires in October, however, he will reportedly leave the franchise in March to take up the role as forwards coach.

Smal and White previously worked together at the Springboks during 2004 and 2007.

The Stormers are set to reveal who will succeed Smal in the next few days.
