Bok Women lock Danelle Lochner reveals her future plans
A crucial part of the Springbok Women’s squad, Danelle Lochner has confirmed her next move, putting pen to paper with an English club.
Lochner has committed her future to the Harlequins ahead of the 26/27 season.
Having started her rugby journey at the Brackenfell Rugby Club in Cape Town in 2022, Lochner quickly adapted to rugby and soon headed to England to join Harlequins in 2023.
Since then, she has established herself as an important member of the Quins’ forward pack, making 26 appearances in the Quarters.
She was a crucial part of the South African side that made history by reaching the quarterfinals at the Rugby World Cup 2025 for the first time, and she made her comeback from injury for Quins against Bristol Bears at the Principality Stadium in March.

After confirmation that she has re-signed in TW2, Lochner said: “I am so honoured and happy to have yet another opportunity to represent Quins in the PWR.
“I can’t imagine playing for a different team, and I am really excited to see what next season has in store.”
Head Coach Ross Chisholm added: “We’re delighted that Danelle has committed to Harlequins again ahead of the 26/27 season.
“We’ve seen during her time at the Club and in international colours, just how good of an operator she is. She is superb in the set-piece and an incredibly dynamic player in attack.
“We’re really excited about seeing her take her game to the next level in our environment, and we’re thrilled that she will be wearing the Quarters again next season.”
Lochner also represented South Africa in netball, making her one of the few athletes who have national honours in two different sports codes.
