Parks suspended for dissent

Three week ban for flank

Richard Parks of Leeds Tykes has been suspended for three weeks following a Rugby Football Union (RFU) disciplinary hearing at the Bristol Filton Holiday Inn on Tuesday.

Parks was found guilty of verbal abuse to a match referee during a game against London Wasps on March 25. The referee for that match at Causeway Stadium was Ashley Rowden.

The incident happened in injury time of a match which Wasps won 28-0. Rowden showed Parks a yellow card for an infringement on the Tykes' line. Parks dissented and the referee changed the yellow card to a red one.

Christopher Quinlan chaired the panel. David Martin and Mike Rafter sat on the panel.

He is free to play again on April 17.

Parks, who turns 29 this year, came to the Tykes from Celtic Warriors in 2004. He has played for Wales.
