VIDEO: CJ Stander responds to Rassie's soft chirp

WATCH at Ireland’s South African-born loose forward CJ Stander responds to a suggestion his adopted country’s forwards are ‘soft’.

The Springboks’ World Cup-winning coach, Erasmus, coached Stander while he was at Irish province Munster.

Erasmus, now South Africa’s Director of Rugby, made the claim in a behind-the-scenes documentary on the Boks’ World Cup triumph last year.

Stander, speaking ahead of Irelands Nations Cup trip to Twickenham and a clash with Six Nations champions England, suggested those words may come back to haunt Erasmus one day.

“It’s a bit of a challenge,” Stander said, when asked about his fellow countryman’s comment in the ‘Chasing the Sun’ documentary.

“If that is his view and that is what he believes, I would like to, not really prove him wrong, but I’d like to show him what we can do and what we have done before,” Stander said ahead of the England clash.

Erasmus, the former Munster Director of Rugby, was describing Wales as “tough f**kers” ahead of last year’s World Cup semifinal – in comparison to his perceived flaws of Ireland and England.

“That is a big statement to make,” continued Stander, who captained South Africa Under-20 in 2010.

“[Erasmus] put it out there so, you know, that’s his prerogative.

“If that’s what he thought of us, it is not going to be easy to change his view.

“Luckily, we are not playing against them this week.

“We will get them at some stage.”
