It started back in 2009 when Club owner Nigel Wray wanted to try something different to turn the Premiership side's fortunes around during the time when South African Brendan Venter was the coach. Venter felt the need to build a team and squad that wanted to stay together.

And thus, team building trips to places like the Bahamas, Miami, Budapest, Abu Dhabi and Biarritz – sometimes before a game – was born.

"Saracens had this belief that if we work on that [on-field] and the off-field things and the ethos around creating this team and this family, put that together and you will be successful. That was the theory behind going on these trips.

Listen, it was a jolly, make no mistake but we had some fun things in between, like going on a treasure hunt and you do have a chat re-addressing the culture and how you treat each other. All culture and vision based," de Kock said.
