Gill play host to Cradock in FNB Classic

Match Preview

Cradock High travel the 110 km across to Somerset East for their FNB Classic Clash with Gill on Saturday.

The two schools have been playing each other since 1920. They have not played each year. Both are relatively small schools but both enthusiastic about rugby. That means that Saturday's match will be enthusiastic with all the fun of the fiar – songs and champagne girls and ceremonial introductions to the principals.

Both schools sued to be in North Eastern Cape when they sent more boys to Craven Week than happens now. This year neither school had a player in the Eastern Province Craven Week side but Both had players in the Eastern Province Country Academy side. Gill had- De Wet Greyling, Garth van Rayner, Hlumelo Matikinga (captain) and Hlangowuhle Nodonghe, and Cradock had François Bekker. Neither school had a player at the Grant Khomo Week.

The diminished opportunities for boys in rural areas is sad. That FNB are involved in a match such as this is good.
