SACS Sorrell ready for Wynberg

Player Profile

We profile Daniel Sorrell, current hooker and captain of SACS, before their FNB Classic Clash with Wynberg Boys High.

Born on the 29 May 1986, Daniel has attended SACS since his junior days, a SACS boy through and through. His brother Ricki played first team two years ago and is currently playing rugby in New Zealand.

A waterpolo player during the summer, Daniel looks to get as much fitness and training done in preparation for the rugby season. His high fitness levels are well noted, especially by the way in which he roams the park at full speed for every minute of the match. Although Daniel has not reached provincial honours, he was selected for a touring side to Argentina where he picked up a couple of invaluable scrumming tips.

Although the SACS side is a young side, with the majority of boys in Std 9 (Grade 11), they have showed some glimpses of their potential. One such performance was their comeback against Bishops where SACS were 17-0 down and turned the match around with a brilliant display of running rugby to take the match 32-31.

Talents that have grabbed the eye this season have been eighthman Kevin Dolley and the technically sound front-row of Rob MacSymon, Mathew Golder and Daniel Sorrell himself. The house prefect hopes that his side can take the spoils from Wynberg this weekend, as it would be a great ending to the first half of the season. It would give SACS the "Triple Crown", beating the three other big schools in the Peninsula.
