Cardiff keep Wales Sevens star

 

Smith – who can operate at wing or centre enjoyed an eye catching season at the region and has made ten appearances in all competitions, scoring three tries including a superbly taken solo effort against London Irish in December.

 

Former Wales Sevens international Smith joined the senior set-up at Blues in 2013 after playing for Cardiff RFC.

 

He previously played for his home-town Neath and spent a season in Australia where he represented Brisbane Bulldogs.

 

Smith was also part of the Sevens circuit in 2011 where he played for Wales in legs in Bucharest, Barcelona and Moscow.

 

The popular back made his league debut for the region in January 2013 against Munster before breaking into the starting line-up once more during the 2013/14 campaign.

 

This season, under the guidance of Director of Rugby Mark Hammett, Smith has shone on the wing with a number of impressive displays and revealed his delight at agreeing new terms.

 

Smith said: "A new contract is absolutely massive for me and I'm delighted to sign and extend my time at Blues.

 

"When I signed my last contract I was always looking forward and trying to work hard as possible to stay involved in the region during what has been a transitional period the last few years.

 

"Things are changing and we are going to keep going forward and I want to be a part of that. I'm really proud to get the new deal and excited about the future."
