VIDEO - Ospreys coach on Stormers' style: 'We didn't get spooked'

SPOTLIGHT: Ospreys head coach Toby Booth applauded his team for not getting drawn into the Stormers’ high-risk style of play in Saturday’s United Rugby Championship Round 14 clash in Cape Town.

The Welsh side produced a clinal performance against a reckless Stormers side in a 27-21 win at Cape Town Stadium.

Booth’s side scored four tries in the match after taking advantage of the home side’s mistakes which stemmed from an all-out attacking game plan.

“We have seen a lot of stuff from the Stormers in our time here. Good teams don’t change their DNA,” said Booth.

“They are going to offload and they are going to force it a little bit and you don’t always get that right.

“You’ve got to have an incredible amount of energy and effort and that’s on these guys [Ospreys players] being emotionally and physically connected to what they got to do.

“But the good thing for us is that we didn’t get spooked by it and we didn’t get dragged into the game they want to play.

“The thing I am probably most pleased about from a performance point of view is that we were very disciplined about how we wanted to play the game and we stuck to it.

“As a result, we grew into the game and we looked good and we were a threat on both sides of the ball.”

The Ospreys looked like the more composed team from the start and they went into the break leading 17-7.

Prop Rhys Henry said there was a clear message in the changing room before they faced the Stormers.

“The fast start probably helped in silencing what was a very loud crowd at the start,” said Henry.

“That’s what we spoke about before we went out. It was a fast start and letting them know we are going to stand in front of them.

“Once you silence the crowd, you could build your way into the game and we did that really well.”
